To be honest, I think I messed this one up. But I wanted to post it because there are some elements I like to it. I do like the hat, which took a while for me to finally get right, at least in my view that is. The eyes are ok, but I think it's the nose that I don't like. But hey, we should put up even the mistakes right. Cause that's how we get better. So please, any tips, or techniques I'd love to hear back.

I see what you're saying about the hat, but dont get down on yourself, I still haven't figured out pirate hats... man... But still, incredible work of art here... /cheer

Oh I'm not down, I just wish it would have turned out a little better. I may do this one over again, or just use something else to get it. But I want to have a good one of him with this role. So who knows, ehh......

it looks really good!!! the things that pops out at me first as being slightly off is the eyes. it could quite possibly be that way in the reference pic, but having one eye so much more heavily outlined bothers me a little bit. but u really did an EXCELLENT job!

Overall, I think you did great! Very nice attention to detail and great contrast. I love the hair/braids and the lower half of his face is perfect.

The only negative part for me is the brow/nose lines. They make it seem as if his eyes are sunken in a little more than they should be. If you were to go just a tad softer there, maybe.

Other than that, I think it's brilliant, well done!

I think you've done terrific with this. I think you've done fine with the nose. You drew what you saw. That's the most important thing. This is what Van Gogh did. His drawings all look a bit wanky until you consider that each element he put in his drawings had some significance to what he saw. It's this interpretation that makes it art. Do not fear your own interpretations are not meaningful. Let the viewer decide if he identifies with you. You have great depth in the hat and it looks terrific.

I think the hat is perfect, too. The nose is actually pretty good...I think all you'd need to do is blend it a little more and pull out soft highlights
