Those words came from one of the greats himself, the late Walter Payton. After drafting Barry Sanders from Oklahoma State with the 3rd overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft, Sanders went on to have a stellar career with the Detroit Lions. He ran for 15, 269 yards in his 10 year career, setting 6 all-time NFL marks.
He was elected to the NFL Hall-of-Fame in 2004.
I'll never budge in my opinion of Walter Payton being the all time greatest RB in NFL history. But then again, I was raised in Chicago, so what do you think I'd say?? But guys like Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, and of course Walter Payton..well....weren't they just fun to watch?
